Born in the Biga district of Çanakkale in 1960, Davut Doğan completed his primary and secondary education in Biga. Doğan graduated from Anadolu University, Faculty of Economics and currently continues his education at İstanbul University, Department of Philosophy. Davut Doğan resigned from the civil service in 1986 and founded Doğtaş A.Ş. with his brothers in 1987. In 1988, he established the company’s production facility, launching his career in industry. Doğtaş Furniture quickly became one of Turkey’s leading furniture brands, and in 2011 it acquired Kelebek Furniture, one of Turkey’s oldest furniture brands. Doğan also entered the construction sector with Doğyap, a company established to operate in real estate development in Turkey and abroad. In 2017, Doğan established Biotrend Enerji with the aim of investing in alternative energy generation, bringing four different sectors under the holding. In 2021, Biotrend Enerji went public and received investment from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and signed the United Nations Global Compact. Davut Doğan served as the chairperson of the Biga Chamber of Commerce and Industry between 1999-2009. He established the Turkish Furniture Manufacturers Association (MOSDER) in 2003 by gathering the branded furniture manufacturers in Turkey under one roof. He served as the Chairperson of the association for a while. Doğan is also a Member of the Turkish Industrialists and Businessmen Association (TÜSİAD) and the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK). Doğan has served as the Chairperson of the Furniture Sector Board of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) for 10 years. Between 2002-2005, he taught “Entrepreneurship” courses at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Biga Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. He was the “Turkey Finalist” at the 2005 World Entrepreneurship Competition. In 2007, he was selected the “Most Productive Businessperson of the Year” by the National Productivity Center. Davut Doğan has three published books titled “Projection,” “Impressions” and “My Experiences”. Davut Doğan, acting as Chairman of the Board at Doğanlar Holding A.Ş. and Honorary President and Member of Board of Directors at Doğanlar Mobilya Grubu İmalat Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., is also an angel investor. Davut Doğan was awarded the title of Honorary Doctor in Business Administration by Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University in 2024.
